Jessica Adams Hughes and Mick Roughhead
Presenting: The Mick Award
We're convinced that the EasyBender is the best steel rule processing
equipment in the world. Not only is it faster, more accurate, and more productive
than its competitors, but it is capable of producing some extraordinary work. Sometimes,
however, even we are surprised at what a truly creative diemaker can produce with
this tool.
Such was the case when Mick Roughhead of Trade Cutting Formes (Newcastle, UK) brought a
sample die to the recent IPEX show in Birmingham. His "signature piece" was
formed from a single piece of rule, fully processed and bent on the EasyBender. It took
about seven minutes to run, start to finish, and emerged from the EasyBender ready to
insert into the die with no hand finishing. The joint, located in the "k" was
"spot on", and nearly impossible to detect once the die was fitted.
A masterpiece such as this was worthy of more than just the attention it received at
IPEX, so we at Adams Technologies, Inc. and Easy Bender Europe, Ltd. resolved to present a
special award to Mick for his work. Mick received a commemorative plaque, presented by
Ashley Bradburn of Partwell Cutting Technologies and a state-of-the-art pentium laptop
presented by Jessica Adams of Easy Bender Europe, Ltd. A contest has
been established in his honor, and periodically the "Mick" award will go to the diemaker who
submits the most impressive design which can be produced on the EasyBender.
How to Enter:
The winner will be the diemaker who has made the most of the EasyBenders
capabilities, demonstrating both its versatility and productivity. Entries should be in
one of the following: DXF, DDS or CF2 file format. Dies or
layouts should not exceed 4 square. Each year's entries should be submitted no later than
the 31st of December.
Entries will be judged by Adams Technologies, Inc.
Finalists' entries will be judged by SDS USA, Inc. Winning entries will become the
property of Adams Technologies and its agents for the purpose of advertising. Finalists will be required
to sign a release form to the effect that they are the originator of the design, or have
full consent of the originator of the design to allow Adams Technologies and its agencies to use the
design for advertising purposes.
Entries may be emailed to info@adamstech.com. Be sure to include name, address, company name, and the type of rule to be
used. Any other supporting details, such as time comparisons, would be helpful.
Entries may also be mailed to the
